Askeviks Camping & Stugor lies on the shore of Lake Vänern, around seven kilometres from Göta kanal and just over twenty kilometres north of Mariestad. The site has camping pitches and nearly twenty cabins of various sizes, a fully licensed restaurant and a wood-fired sauna down by the beach. There is also a playground, a barbecue area and sports activities for families with children. A scenic lakeside base with swimming on the doorstep.

Astern ställplats is centrally located in Borås on Sven Eriksonsgatan, opposite the swimming pool and a stone’s throw from Stadsparken and Stadsparksbadet. The pitches have electric hook-up and payment is easy via an app or text message. The maximum stay is two days and the price is SEK 175 per day. Axvalls IF:s familjecamping is a friendly campsite by the sports ground in Axvall outside Skara, run by club volunteers. All fifteen pitches have electric hook-up, and there are toilets, showers, fresh water, chemical toilet and grey water disposal, and a small kiosk. Backamo Lägerplats lies beside road 167 between Lilla Edet and Ljungskile, around seven kilometres from Ljungskile, on a historic military camp site in Uddevalla municipality. Motorhome and caravan pitches and tent space are available to rent, with electric hook-up subject to availability and access to cold water, toilets and showers. The grounds have a military obstacle course, a sauna and swimming, fishing, barbecue areas and a rowing boat by the lake, as well as a hostel. Prices from SEK 200 per night.

Berglunda Vandrarhem & Ställplats is in a quiet, scenic setting just outside Tidan, around 25 km north of Skövde. The small hostel welcomes motorhomes and caravans on a green site with access to the hostel’s toilets and showers, and a cabin is available to rent. Dogs are welcome. Prices from SEK 175 per night without electric hook-up. From road 200, drive through Tidan, turn onto Flistadvägen and continue towards Ranstena.

Björkö Hamn lies at the far end of Björkö in Gothenburg’s northern archipelago, reached by two free car ferries (Lilla Varholmen–Hönö and then Burö–Björkö). The motorhome pitches are in the southern and northern parts of the harbour, with swimming directly from most pitches. The facilities block has toilets, showers and a laundry room with a washing machine, tumble dryer and mangle; electricity is purchased at the machine using a personal service code, and tank pump-out and fresh water are available in the harbour. The price is SEK 200 per day excluding electricity in low season and SEK 230 from 1 June–31 August, payable at the machine or via Swish. Open all year – one of the municipality’s two year-round motorhome stopovers.

Bojarparkeringen is Strömstad’s municipal motorhome stopover on Kebalvägen, just under two kilometres (around a 20-minute walk) from the town centre. It is reserved for motorhomes, with a maximum stay of two days. From 15 March–15 October, a toilet, fresh water and tank emptying are available, provided there is no frost. Prices are SEK 175 per day in low season and SEK 225 per day from 15 June–15 August; pay at the machine by card or coins, or via EasyPark.

Borås Camping lies beside the River Viskan in Saltemad, just north of the town centre and around 400 metres from Borås Djurpark. The site has nearly 300 camping pitches, all with electric hook-up, as well as six facilities blocks, laundry facilities and free Wi-Fi. On site there is a bathing area, playgrounds, barbecue areas, a restaurant and a shop, among other facilities, while Rya Åsar nature reserve is next door. The campsite welcomes motorhomes, caravans and tents, and pets are welcome on the camping pitches.

Breviks Camping is in a scenic setting on Lake Vättern halfway between Hjo and Karlsborg, with around 80 camping pitches with electric hook-up and, since 2023, six dedicated gravel motorhome pitches. The site has a toilet and shower, a kiosk, Wi-Fi, and grey water and sewage disposal. The clear blue waters of Lake Vättern are just below, for swimming and views. Prices from around SEK 240 per day; open 15 April–30 September.

Brålands Gård is a farm motorhome stopover in the heart of Bohuslän, around five minutes from exit 99 on the E6, with Örekilsälven nature reserve on the doorstep. There are ten prepared pitches, four of which (six bookable) have electric hook-up for an extra charge; the red facilities block has chemical toilet disposal, water filling, a toilet, a shower, a washing machine and Wi-Fi. The setting beside the River Örekilsälven is popular for salmon fishing and walking. Follow the sign for “Laxfiske” and park by the facilities block; call the farm for a pitch with electric hook-up.

Brännebacka Gård is in a rural setting around 60 metres from road 47, between Grästorp and Tre Älgar where roads 47 and 44 meet. The farm offers motorhome and caravan pitches all year on a large gravel and grass area with electric hook-up, as well as a shower, toilet, kitchen, fresh water and waste disposal. Various events are held here throughout the year, and Grästorp is within walking distance. The location is suitable for trips to Halleberg, Hunneberg and Läckö slott. Daftö Resort lies around five kilometres south of Strömstad and is one of the west coast’s largest family resorts, with around 830 pitches, all with electric hook-up. There are facilities blocks with toilets and showers, restaurants, barbecue areas, fresh water, Wi-Fi, waste sorting and the resort’s own swimming areas, plus a pirate and adventure theme for children. Dals Eds Båtklubb runs a guest harbour and motorhome stopover at Bälnäs at the southern end of Lake Stora Le, where Dalslands kanal begins and a nature reserve borders the site. There are 13 pitches with electric hook-up, fresh water, chemical toilet disposal, toilets, showers (SEK 10), a washing machine and a tumble dryer. Fuel and recycling are also available at the harbour. The price is SEK 200 per day. The setting on Stora Le is ideal for boating and canoeing; the guest harbour services are most comprehensive in summer.

Dönstorpsbadet lies beside the River Lidan just outside Kvänum in Vara municipality, a popular family bathing spot with a campsite and café. The bathing area has changing rooms, an accessible toilet, jetties, a kiosk and a beach volleyball court, and canoes can be hired. The motorhome stopover offers electric hook-up, fresh water, toilets and grey and black water disposal. A motorhome pitch costs SEK 200 without electricity or SEK 250 with electricity. A quiet stop with swimming and refreshments in the Vara area.

Eckeruds Gård lies along the E45 around 8.5 km south of Mellerud, a convenient and easy-to-find stop on a journey through Dalsland. The farm has eight gravel pitches with electric hook-up. Ekebacken Gård & MC-Camping is on an old farm dating from the 1800s in Blidsberg, south-west of Ulricehamn, and caters for motorcyclists but welcomes everyone. There is simple tent camping on grass in a rural setting, as well as five motorhome pitches, all with electric hook-up. Guests have access to electricity, a shower, toilet, washing-up sink, kitchen, barbecue areas and Wi-Fi. Prices from SEK 180 per night. Open 2 May–30 September.

EllösParken is run by an association in Ellös on western Orust and has twelve motorhome pitches within the park grounds, all with the option of electric hook-up. Toilet tanks and grey water can be emptied in a nearby building. The Öppet Varv area is around 1.5 km away, and Ellös offers harbour life, restaurants and swimming. Fantasi Marina in Källviken lies on the mainland side below Skaftöbron in Uddevalla municipality, at the entrance to Gullmarn. The marina has eight motorhome pitches with electric hook-up, and the price includes a toilet, shower and fresh water. There is a restaurant and a barbecue area for guests on site. Fengersfors ställplats lies just 30 metres from Knarrbysjön in the industrial village of Fengersfors in northern Dalsland, near the well-known Not Quite art gallery. The site is run by volunteers from local associations and has a bathing area, barbecue area, boules court and exercise trails nearby. There is no electricity, shower or waste disposal on site; fresh water and recycling are available at the village shop around 900 metres away. Tents are not allowed. First Camp City-Strömstad lies on Uddevallavägen just south of Strömstad town centre, close to both the sea and the town’s amenities. The site is designed for motorhome guests and has around sixty motorhome pitches that can be booked in advance, all with electric hook-up. Its central location means you can walk into Strömstad while still having an evening swim within reach. Prices vary by season and pitches are booked via firstcamp.se.

First Camp Edsvik-Grebbestad lies beside Edsviken just outside the oyster hub of Grebbestad in northern Bohuslän. First Camp Ekudden lies close to the shore of Lake Vänern in Mariestad, with views towards Torsö, the lake’s largest island. Most pitches have lake views, and the campsite has a small bistro and cabins near the water with toilets and showers. Large parts of the site remain open all year. First Camp Solvik lies on a rocky headland just north of Kungshamn, with far-reaching sea views. Motorhomes stay in two areas: Berget by the entrance (gravel with artificial grass, pitches around eight metres deep) and Havet down by Strandbyn, where the front pitches are almost at the water’s edge – all with electric hook-up. There are three facilities blocks with toilets, showers and washing machines, plus chemical toilet and grey water disposal on site, and a restaurant/bistro opens during the season. The site is open all year (facilities blocks 2–3 close for winter in November) and uses dynamic pricing – check the current daily rate when booking. Swimming from the rocks is within walking distance, and Smögenbryggan is nearby.

Fisketångens varv is a motorhome stopover among boats and boathouses at the boatyard in Kungshamn, around one kilometre from the town centre with its restaurants and shops. There are fourteen pitches with electric hook-up, and the site has a toilet, shower, fresh water, a boules court, a barbecue area and free Wi-Fi. Prices from SEK 250 per day. Open 1 May–31 October; a good alternative when Smögen and Kungshamn are full in summer.

Fiskhamnens husbilsparkering is centrally located by the fishing harbour in Lysekil, within walking distance of the town centre and Havets Hus. The pitches have electricity (subject to availability), water, waste sorting, an accessible toilet and a shower; a defibrillator is available on site. Open all year with a maximum stay of two days. Prices are SEK 280 per day in early and late season and SEK 310 in high season, including electricity; pay via hamn.lysekil.se. Part of the site may be closed for excavation work – services are then provided at Hamnservice around 800 m away. Flötemarkens Vildmarkscamp lies close to a lake in Bullaren in northern Bohuslän and welcomes tents, motorhomes and caravans. The former farm has around thirty pitches, wind shelters and overnight cabins, barbecue areas, canoe hire and a wood-fired sauna down by the lake. There are 15 pitches without electricity right beside the canal and lock. The location offers a peaceful canal setting close to Forsvik’s industrial heritage site and café. Fossen Camping lies in a sheltered bay of Gullmarsfjorden among leafy woodland on Bokenäset outside Uddevalla. Hav & Logi lies two kilometres south of Skärhamn on Tjörn, along the coastal road towards Bleket and Rönnäng, and offers camping, a hostel, cabins and a dedicated motorhome area. Hjo Vedbastu och ställplats lies in Äskelid in Norra Fågelås, just under ten kilometres south of Hjo, on the same farm as the Lervis pottery workshop. Hjälmared ställplats lies beside Lake Stora Färgen just under ten kilometres south of Alingsås, near Färgesund where Stora Färgen and Lilla Färgen meet. It is a small site with a handful of marked pitches (around four) with electric hook-up in a natural setting beside the water. There is a jetty for swimming, minigolf and a kiosk that also serves wood-fired pizza. There is no fresh water, waste disposal or shower on site, so fill your tanks before arrival. Hotell Wettern’s motorhome stopover lies by the waterfront promenade in Karlsborg, right beside Karlsborgs fästning and the eastern entrance to Göta kanal. The motorhome site has electricity, water, washing-up facilities, laundry facilities, a shower and a toilet. The motorhome parking area in Götene is centrally located at Folkets Park, next to a large green space, a school and a minigolf course. There are ten designated gravel pitches with an asphalt entrance, where you can park free of charge for up to twelve hours. There is no electricity, water or waste disposal on site; grey water can be emptied at Hönsäters gästhamn in Hällekis. Open all year, subject to occasional events. A good base for trips to Kinnekulle.

Hyppelns gästhamn lies on one of the northern islands in the Öckerö archipelago, reached by motorhome on the free Nordöleden ferry from Burö (around 12 minutes). The harbour has 14 pitches that can be booked in advance, with electricity and a sanitary facilities building, paid for separately at the machine, and showers are free. Book a pitch in advance at hyppeln.com and pay by Swish, card or bank transfer; arrival from 12.00. Tank emptying and a barbecue area are available on site. Håveruds Camping lies by the famous aqueduct on Dalslands kanal in Mellerud, a couple of hundred metres from the locks, and is run by Håfreströms IF. The campsite has 44 pitches with electric hook-up for motorhomes and caravans, a camping cabin, and a facilities block with toilets, a shower, a washing machine/tumble dryer and a cooker. Fees are collected on Friday and Saturday evenings and on weekday mornings. The spectacular sheet-metal aqueduct, crossed by both road and railway bridges, is one of Dalsland’s best-known attractions. Booking in advance is recommended in high season.

Hälsö Hamn lies on Hälsö, the northernmost of Öckerö’s bridge-linked islands, beside the Hälsö Brygga restaurant with its outdoor seating and live music. The stopover accommodates around twenty motorhomes and caravans with electric hook-up, fresh water (not in winter) and a disposal point for grey water and sewage tanks. The toilets are open all year, while the showers open April–October. Pay at the machine by card or Swish; no advance bookings. Prices follow three seasonal levels, from SEK 220 per day. Hönö Klåva Gästhamn & Ställplats lies in the heart of the lively fishing village of Klåva on Hönö, a stone’s throw from restaurants, shops and Tullhuset. The stopover has around 25 pitches in winter and 60–80 pitches from May–September, spread over two areas with electricity included in the fee. Fresh water is available all year, with showers in a container and facilities block, plus grey water and chemical toilet disposal. The price is SEK 230 per day all year, payable by card at the machine (12–17), and the seventh night is free – stay seven, pay for six. From the quay it is a short trip to a grocery shop and swimming from rocks and a sandy beach.

Hönö Röds Hamn lies on western Hönö on Rödvägen, easily reached by motorhome via the free ferry from Lilla Varholmen and around 300 metres from a well-stocked ICA. All 20 pitches have electric hook-up (SEK 2.50/kWh), and the harbour offers fresh water and a facilities block with a kitchenette, three toilets and two showers, plus toilet and grey water disposal. There is a new barbecue and bathing area with a swimming ladder by the jetty, and Ersdalen nature reserve, with swimming from the rocks, is nearby. Prices start at SEK 150 per day. Johannesvik Camping & Stugby lies in a leafy valley at Wägga, just under 3 km from Kungshamn and Smögen. The campsite has camping pitches and cabins as well as dedicated motorhome pitches with electric hook-up – comfort and premium pitches also have water and drainage – and a separate stopover at Hovenäset marina with six gravel pitches, open all year except weeks 24–33. The site has facilities blocks with toilets and showers, a restaurant, a small shop, a bathing area, adventure golf, a sauna and a barbecue hut to hire, and the Soteleden trail passes close by. Chemical toilet and grey water disposal are available. The summer season runs from mid-April to mid-September, while motorhome pitches can be used all year; prices depend on the current booking.

Kedumsvik is a farm in a lovely setting right beside Lake Vänern around 17 km outside Lidköping, where the excavated Kedumskanalen flows through the fields into the lake. The motorhome stopover has 15 pitches, all with electric hook-up, and a new facilities block with a shower, toilet, kitchenette, washing machine, drinking water, grey water disposal and chemical toilet disposal. The farm offers canoe hire, walking trails, cabin hire and horse-related activities. A pitch with electricity costs SEK 120, or SEK 100 without. Open all year.

Koberg Golfklubb’s motorhome stopover is in a scenic setting beside Koberg slott and Lake Vanderydsvattnet, around 21 km from Trollhättan. There are thirteen pitches with electric hook-up near the first and tenth tees, clubhouse and practice areas. The clubhouse has a toilet and shower, but there is no grey or black water disposal. At the red, hexagonal building by the jetty towards the cold-water bathhouse, you can fill up with fresh water and empty your chemical toilet.
